These individual ingredients are ground, pressed or compacted using different procedures. They then undergo a process (or several) of heating and cooling.&nbsp;These raw materials, procedures and manufacturing processes&nbsp;<strong>create different products with different characteristics<\/strong>, although the most common is still &#8220;fired clay&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Some of the best-known types of ceramic tiles are stoneware tiles or porcelain stoneware<\/strong>.&nbsp;The main difference between these types is their porosity (water absorption&nbsp;through the tile) and their hardness.&nbsp;According to these characteristics,&nbsp;<strong>each of these types of ceramic tiles will be used for floors both indoors and outdoors, or as wall and fa\u00e7ade coverings<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>CERAMIC TILES TYPES:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>different types of ceramic tile<\/strong>&nbsp;that exist are classified in many ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>For its finish;&nbsp;glazed (GL) or unglazed (UGL).<\/em><\/li><li><em>By its location;&nbsp;exterior or interior, flooring or cladding.<\/em><\/li><li><em>By manufacturing process: pressing or extrusion.<\/em><\/li><li><em>By water absorption capacity: High, medium or low<\/em>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The UNE-14411 Standard&nbsp;<strong>obliges manufacturers to indicate this type of information on the packaging of their products<\/strong>&nbsp;.&nbsp;So we can know the type of material we have in our hands just by reading the tile box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This encoding&nbsp;<strong>is summarized in the following table<\/strong>&nbsp;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"465\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/pt\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ceramic-tile-classifications-table-translated-1024x465.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-47682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ceramic-tile-classifications-table-translated-1024x465.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ceramic-tile-classifications-table-translated-300x136.png 300w, https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ceramic-tile-classifications-table-translated-768x349.png 768w, https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ceramic-tile-classifications-table-translated-1536x698.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ceramic-tile-classifications-table-translated-2048x930.png 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As a starting point,&nbsp;<strong>we will start with the two most typical and traditional materials<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>TILES<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The porosity of the&nbsp;tiles<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>is the highest, but remember that is only through the back of the tile, never through the front enamel. The back is porous and&nbsp;<strong>can be white, grey or red<\/strong>. <strong>Absorption is between 12% and 20%<\/strong>, although in some cases it can reach 25%.&nbsp;That is why we will always see the tiles within Group III.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>They are mainly used for interior wall cladding.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/pt\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ceramic-tiles-pic-3-1024x695.jpg\" alt=\"Ceramic Tiles\" class=\"wp-image-47696\" width=\"544\" height=\"369\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ceramic-tiles-pic-3-1024x695.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ceramic-tiles-pic-3-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ceramic-tiles-pic-3-768x521.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/ceramic-tiles-pic-3.jpg 1181w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 544px) 100vw, 544px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It is obtained using the semi-dry pressing technique<\/strong>&nbsp;and with one or more firings (single firing or double firing).&nbsp;<strong>The surface is enamelled<\/strong>, with a wide range of colours and decorations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hardness of the tiles will also depend on the enamel, but it is usually less than 5 on the Mohs scale, with a breaking load between 300 and 1200 N. This means that we&nbsp;<strong>do not need a great separation power to cut this material<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any PRO&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/sections\/manual-cutting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RUBI manual cutter<\/a>&nbsp;with a \u00d8 6 or 8 mm scoring wheel will be perfect for cutting these tiles.&nbsp;Some examples are the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/product\/star\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">STAR<\/a>&nbsp;,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/product\/fast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FAST<\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/product\/speed-n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SPEED-N<\/a>&nbsp;ranges .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--HubSpot Call-to-Action Code --><span class=\"hs-cta-wrapper\" id=\"hs-cta-wrapper-396ab79e-4d33-4d59-8a28-356574160c89\"><span class=\"hs-cta-node hs-cta-396ab79e-4d33-4d59-8a28-356574160c89\" id=\"hs-cta-396ab79e-4d33-4d59-8a28-356574160c89\"><!--[if lte IE 8]><div id=\"hs-cta-ie-element\"><\/div><![endif]--><a href=\"https:\/\/cta-redirect.hubspot.com\/cta\/redirect\/6786297\/396ab79e-4d33-4d59-8a28-356574160c89\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"hs-cta-img\" id=\"hs-cta-img-396ab79e-4d33-4d59-8a28-356574160c89\" style=\"border-width:0px;\" height=\"191\" width=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/no-cache.hubspot.com\/cta\/default\/6786297\/396ab79e-4d33-4d59-8a28-356574160c89.png\" alt=\"New call-to-action\"><\/a><\/span><script charset=\"utf-8\" src=\"https:\/\/js.hscta.net\/cta\/current.js\"><\/script><script type=\"text\/javascript\"> hbspt.cta.load(6786297, '396ab79e-4d33-4d59-8a28-356574160c89', {\"useNewLoader\":\"true\",\"region\":\"na1\"}); <\/script><\/span><!-- end HubSpot Call-to-Action Code -->\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>STONEWARE TILES<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ceramic stoneware tiles are basically used&nbsp;<strong>for floors<\/strong> and can be laid both indoors and outdoors.&nbsp;They are commonly formed by the semi-dry pressing method, although there are some cases of extrusion. All of them are subjected to a single firing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can find&nbsp;<strong>stoneware tile models with a white back<\/strong>, known as white-paste stoneware, and&nbsp;<strong>models with a red back<\/strong>&nbsp;(the most common).&nbsp;Also, stoneware with glazes with various levels of roughness, which will add more difficulty to the cut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The hardness of stoneware tiles is usually between 3 and 8<\/strong>&nbsp;according to the Mohs hardness scale. The smoother the texture of the tile surface, the lower its hardness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to <strong>the absorption capacity, it is between 2% and 10%<\/strong>&nbsp;depending on whether the back is more or less vitrified. For this reason these ceramic tiles are usually in Group II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its breaking load oscillates between 1000 and 2300 N, but if we increase the thickness, we may need separation powers close to 500 Kg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To cut the stoneware<\/strong>&nbsp;we can use a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/categories\/manual-cutters-for-ceramic-tiles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RUBI<\/a>&nbsp;PRO manual cutter and in some more complicated cases a SUPERPRO, ideally with a \u00d8 10 mm scoring wheel.&nbsp;Some examples would be the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/product\/ts-max\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TS-MAX<\/a>&nbsp;,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/product\/tq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TQ<\/a>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/product\/tr-magnet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TR-MAGNET<\/a>&nbsp;ranges .&nbsp;We can have many formats of stoneware tiles. Currently, 20\u00d720, 30\u00d730 and 40\u00d740are popular, but the trend is increasing to 50\u00d750 and 60\u00d760 formats. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/pt\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Ceramic-tiles-pic-2.jpg\" alt=\"Ceramic Tiles\" class=\"wp-image-47688\" width=\"481\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Ceramic-tiles-pic-2.jpg 595w, https:\/\/www.rubi.com\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Ceramic-tiles-pic-2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 481px) 100vw, 481px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>PORCELAIN STONEWARE TILES<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Porcelain tiles&nbsp;<strong>have so many applications due to their impressive features<\/strong>.&nbsp;They can be used both indoors and outdoors for floors and walls. Porcelain can also be used as countertops, furniture coverings and even ceiling tiles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The current popular small formats include 30\u00d730 or 40\u00d740, through large formats such as 60\u00d720 up to 120\u00d740.
