Mark Scott, sponsored by RUBI UK, is competing to secure a place to represent the UK in WorldSkills Kazan 2019.

RUBI UK and Ireland is proud to support Mark Scott as he competes to secure a place to represent the UK in Wall and Floor Tiling at WorldSkills Kazan 2019 this summer.

Known as the ‘Skills Olympics’, the WorldSkills Competition sees the world’s best apprentices and students battle it out to win Gold, Silver and Bronze in their chosen skill.  The UK is currently tenth in the WorldSkills rankings following its medal success at the last WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi in 2017.

RUBI has lent its weight behind, WorldSkills UK, the organisation which powers the most exacting and prestigious regional, national and international competition for young skilled people. In this sense, RUBI UK and Ireland is sponsoring and supporting with resources, such as tiling tools and clothing, the training of Mark Scott, who is currently putting his tiling skills into test to join the UK team and compete in at WorldSkills Kazan 2019 next August.

Mark Scott
, 20, is an apprentice tiler from Shotts, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. He trains at City of Glasgow College and works for McGoldrick & Sons.
Mark was selected to train as part of Squad UK, after excelling in the National Finals of the Wall and Floor Tiling Competition at WorldSkills UK LIVE, run in partnership by WorldSkills UK and CITB.
Mark represented the UK in Wall and Floor Tiling at EuroSkills Budapest 2018 last September, finishing 7th out of 13 and was ahead of some of the most highly regarded European countries in Wall and Floor Tiling. Mark achieved one of the best marks the UK has ever achieved in Wall and Floor Tiling in past competitions. This stands the UK in a good position for WorldSkills Kazan 2019.

The support from RUBI UK and Ireland will provide vital support for competitors to showcase their abilities.

Mark Scott will be judged for tiling 2 walls and 2 small floors.
