There are two types of drill bits for dry cut tiles; the first are used with a grinder as they are recommended to work at high speed, and they do not need any extra cooling. Their properties can be enhanced using the correct speed, which is around 11.000 rpm, but can go up to 14.000 rpm. They are drill bits that cut very fast (a hole can be drilled in seconds), they have a long life (these drill bits can make a lot of holes when used correctly) and are manufactured by a vacuum brazed technology process. These features makes them great porcelain tile drill bits.
The second type of ceramic tile dry drill bits are made of tungsten carbide, adaptable to an electric drill and available from a 27mm diameter upwards. These are our classic drill bits, and they were developed for classic ceramic tiles. They are not recommended as porcelain tile drill bit, but they work perfectly over glazed stoneware (BII) and classic wall tiles. They should be used on the back of the tile, in order to protect the enamel.
Diamond drill bits for wet cutting tiles on the other hand are used with the drill at low revolutions. In fact, the slower, the better. Constant cooling with water is needed, for which there are some RUBI accessories that are a perfect combination. These tile drill bits give an optimal finish, through an electroplating manufacturing process, which allow the drill bits to drill the hole leaving a smooth surface. With both systems you will be able to drill in various hard materials, such as porcelain, granite or marble, quickly and safely.
RUBI is committed to quality in its range of drill bits. All our products and tools are subjected to rigorous quality tests conducted by experienced professionals; we want all the products we have on the market to be recognized for the quality and durability that has made our brand one of the most valued in giving a solution to ceramic tile fixing professionals and the building industry in general.
