Although RUBI does not have a specific range of drills for concrete, we can recommend using our diamond drill bits, both in dry and wet cutting. RUBI diamond drills bits, although designed to drill materials such as ceramics, porcelain or many kinds of natural stones, are able to drill in materials such as; prefabricated concrete blocks or concrete slabs or any other prefabricated concrete with less than 4 cm thickness.
The dry cut diamond drill bits are used with a grinder as it is recommended to work at high speed, and they do not need any extra cooling. They are drill bits that cut very fast, they have a long life and are manufactured by a vacuum brazed technology process. To achieve that long life use and perfect preservation of the diamond and the bonding material, it is important to follow some easy instructions. First of all, we need to avoid frontal 90º attack to the surface we are going to drill, by tilting the drill bit a little (creating an angle of 15º approximately regarding the surface). After a few seconds, when we have already created a small semi-circular channel, we need to spin the grinder softly but rapidly. That way we will prevent overheating by letting the dust go out and the air go in.
Diamond drill bits for wet cutting concrete on the other hand are used with the drill at low speed. Cooling with water is mandatory, due to the type of diamond used in the drill bit, it will provide the perfect cooling and protection to overheating, and help to provide the perfect finish. There are some RUBI accessories that are a perfect combination. These concrete drill bits give an optimal finish, through an electroplating manufacturing process. Taking into account that drilling concrete is a plus for these drill bits, it is good to know that with both systems you will be able to drill in various hard materials, such as porcelain, granite or marble, quickly and safely.
The idea of diamond drill bits suitable for concrete arose out of the need of ceramic tile fixers to make round holes inside very hard materials, where the traditional drill bits failed to succeed. This range of accessories, like the other ranges in our catalogue, is designed to offer users time savings and increase efficiency in their work. At RUBI we are aware of the importance today of efficiency and time savings, so our product development managers are very focused on these concepts when designing new tools. That is why all our products are thoroughly tested by the best professionals in the tile fixing business, in order to create the best tools for the best finishes.
