OUR HISTORY

Our story began in 1951, when brothers Joan and Antoni Boada i Sucarrats patented their innovative tool for cutting hydraulic mosaic, tile, and ceramics. Working out of their garage in Rubí, Catalonia, they built 25 units by hand. Their invention — the original "RUBI mosaic cutter" — debuted at the First National Exhibition of Inventions in Barcelona, where it received both a Diploma of Honour and a Gold Medal. The Boada brothers were committed to developing and sharing their cutting-edge technology with other professionals. In 1969, with the addition of Miguel Escayol, they established the joint-stock company Germans Boada S.A. Since then, the company’s reputation has grown worldwide, and the RUBI name has become synonymous with advanced solutions offering outstanding quality, efficiency, and professionalism for skilled tradespeople.
At the RUBI Group, we specialise in the design, manufacture, and distribution of machinery and tools for cutting, placing, and maintaining ceramic tiles. With the installer at the heart of everything we do, our commitment to innovation, high-quality products, and excellence is reflected across our entire range. Today, the RUBI brand is recognised in more than 120 countries by the most demanding professionals in construction and design — supported by a strong global network of subsidiaries and branches. The RUBI Team embraces new trends, technologies, and advances in communication, safety, and sustainability to stay at the forefront of the construction industry — all while remaining true to our core values and our mission to support ceramic tile installers around the world.

OUR PURPOSE

Our purpose reflects our focus on two key areas that elevate the quality and performance of our industry: the skilled professionals whose work is visible and admired, and the spaces they transform with their creativity.

OUR MISSION

We deliver innovative solutions for construction professionals through the design, manufacture, and distribution of tools and equipment that ensure maximum efficiency, profitability, and safety in tile installation. We proudly preserve the identity and legacy of Germans Boada as we work towards building a better future for all.

OUR VISION

To be the global leader in solutions for cutting and placing tiles. Through technological innovation and close connection with our users, we aim to continually improve the quality of life for our customers, employees, shareholders, and the wider community.

The RUBI Group operates two production centres — in Santa Oliva (Spain) and Suzhou (China). Both facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art production and logistics technology, ensuring high-quality products and efficient shipping services that minimise delivery times.

RUBI's 11 subsidiaries support global demand, providing training and after-sales service in collaboration with our trusted distributors. This strong international presence allows us to stay close to our users and offer solutions tailored to the specific needs of each market.

CORPORATE MUSEUM

Since 1951, the RUBI Team has been committed to supporting and elevating the construction trades. In 2003, alongside the launch of RUBI’s main production centre, we inaugurated our corporate museum — Construction Tools — located in Santa Oliva (Tarragona).

This unique space showcases the evolution of tools in the industry, including the development of RUBI’s own manual cutters, and offers a historical journey through more than 70 years of the Group’s legacy.

The museum is open to both professionals and students, offering an educational experience that includes:

A historical collection of construction tools, featuring a private selection from the Gaudí Foundation

A large showroom displaying the full RUBI catalogue

An exhibit on the five key phases of the tiling process

An interactive area where students can practise tile cutting and placement using traditional mosaic techniques

This space not only preserves our history but also inspires the next generation of professionals in the construction industry.
